Brooke: How many times do I have to drop hints about the ballet?
Gary: You know I can’t stand the ballet (she storms out). Brooke wait, we’ve talked about the damn ballet. I hate the goddamn ballet! You got a bunch of dudes in tights flopping around for three hours. It’s like a medieval techno show. It’s a nightmare. I sit there in a sweat. The whole time, I do, wondering when the hell's the goddamn nightmare's gonna end. Go to the damn ballet!
Brooke: It’s not about you loving the ballet, Gary. It’s about the person that you love loves the ballet and you wanting to spend time with that person.
Gary: Not when they’re at the ballet.
Brooke: Okay. Forget the ballet! Forget the ballet!
Gary: I will.
Brooke: We don’t go anywhere together!
Gary: We just went to Ann Arbor together!
Brooke: To Ann Arbor? To the Michigan-Notre Dame game? You think screaming drunk kids and leprechauns doing backflips, that’s fun? That’s fun for me? Come on, man. I did that for you. What do you....How do you show up for me?
The argument continues to decline from here. I watched it repeatedly b/c it was funny. Below is my actual and dream list of "a bunch of dudes in tights flopping around" that I have or would like to see. Tights are optional. If Gary doesn't want to see them that's his loss. Thank God for the men of ballet, who bring such joy to my life! (As of 4/2010, I've seen all these guys but Irek perform live in Chicago.)

Leonid Sarafanov: Principal Kirov Ballet danced Prince Siegfried in Swan Lake on Nov 5, 2006. He had wonderful stage presence and perfect technique; just a beautiful looking dancer! 1) Kirov photo, 2) William Forsythe’s The Vertiginous Thrill of Exactitude, 3) Photo from Nutcracker, Cavalier? & 4) Flower Festival in Genzano

Daniel (Keene) Mantel- ABT corps de ballet; I saw him dance SPF pdd w/Elizabeth Mertz on Dec 16, 2006. He is a beautiful man (picture perfect) from head to toe with mesmerizing stage presence. 1) ABT head shot and 2) some 2002 performance. I can't find a single image that does this guy justice. As I mentioned on thewinger.com, he is stunning!

Fabrice Calmels, Joffrey Ballet, danced multiple roles in theNutcracker Dec 9-21, 2006. My neighbor & I were directly in front of him in the first row while he danced the Arabian Coffee Pdd shirtless (well, he had on a few white beads). We seriously wanted to jumped the orchestra pit and rush the stage. The man has a body including a six pack of abs that you have to see to believe. Oh, man! But what a humble, gentle man he is in person at 6' 6" in height, and oh, can he dance, too. 1) Frechie & I, 2) The Dream, Oberon 3) Apollo 4) Joffrey Head shot

Ethan Stiefel- Principal with ABT. The King of Ballet and Star of the movie Center Stage. A man who made me see the true beauty of ballet, him and men in tights. Oh, he is wonderful. 1) Center Stage 2) The Dream, Oberon 3) Unknown pic & 4) Ethan in LeCorsaire as Lankandem

Angel Corella- Principal with ABT. He just makes it look so easy, and in my heart he is right up there with Misha . 1) Head shot 2) LeCorsaire's Ali the Slave & 3) Unknown work.
Of the following three ABT principal dancers below, I have only seen Jose & Herman dance [on DVD], and they were simply amazing to watch.

Jose Manuel Carreno in 1) Don Quixote, 2) Diana & Aceteon, & 3) ABT Head shot. On camera, Jose is such a sweetheart.

David Hallberg- ABT Head shot, 2) The Harmonie Impact model, 3) Cover & 4) LeCor's Conrad. On The Winger blog, David sounds really cool.Saving the best for last......

The "I love Irek Mukhamedov" Homage- A former Principal with Bolshoi Ballet & Royal Ballet. He is the man. The sexiest man on tape and a bravura actor. The best male partner I have ever seen and star of my favorite ballet, Mayerling. Irek is currently teaching at Elmhurst Ballet School in London.
The list of men in tights I'd like to see is even longer so I will be sure to get more pics and a post up soon.
Toodles,
Chimene

Ha ha Chimene you're so funny -- will David EVER live down that dance belt pic!!!!! NO!!!... Lovely pictures of all of them! Thanks for posting them :)
I remember that movie -- I was so mad because the theater was filled with stupid frat boys and their idiotic dates, and everyone was saying sarcastically "oh right!" and "oh come on!", etc. when Jennifer Aniston was trying to convince Vince to go to the ballet.
I went to B&N yesterday to use the gift card my mom had sent me for Christmas and was going to see if they had Center Stage. No, such luck ... This is becoming quite funny actually -- I think you must be able to get it anywhere but NY!
Anyway, have a great New Year!
That is pretty funny. I saw it [the movie] recently on sale at Walmart for $5.00, and Matt Murphy said he say it at Target in Montana for $5.00, too.
I don't think I'll be watching the movie any time soon, due to my own recent breakup, but I love the dialogue -- though with me it was more personal issues than the ballet, and I'd be the one dragging her.
Not to make you jealous, but when Ethan did a special for HBO I was the PA for the shoot here in Madison. He's amazingly nice in person, and very down-to-earth. I especially loved his response to "why did you take up ballet?": "I got to touch a lot of pretty girls!"
